About the book
Internationally acclaimed Sports Chiropractor and speaker, Pete Garbutt
The science of running gives us laws of physics, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology that help to guide us in finding the best way to run. These basic laws are ignored at the user’s peril. ENHANCE Running seeks to examine and utilise the laws of science to help us understand how best to move and what forces govern the responses of our bodies to the forces that we put them under. Within this, there is no perfect way to run, but rather a collection of commonly made movement mistakes that we can identify and help to minimise.
ENHANCE Running is based on using a body that is designed to run naturally. Our modern lifestyles repress, deprive and diminish our body’s ability to move naturally in so many ways. Running technique is one of the things that suffers from this. We aim to encourage and restore as much natural running motion through utilising the body’s own feedback mechanisms where possible. A respect for the feet and the relationship of one body part to another gives a premise for understanding and helping the body to move the way it was designed to.
This book will take a look at ways that running can be used for health, and ways in which we can run better to maximise its benefits.
